Photographs of Hadrian's Wall from Vindolanda to Birdoswald

Large stretches of the wall still exist in this section and the easiest to access by car (I didn't have enough time to "walk the wall") is the section just to the east of the fort at Birdoswald. It winds along the top of the hill and then drops down steeply to the river. It is clearly visible on the far side of the river stretching on up the slope to the east. Turrets and a Milecastle are visible on the way.
