The Great Ocean Road officially starts at Torquay and finishes at
Allansford where it joins the Princes Highway near Warrnambool, but for the
purposes of this site it began in Adelaide and finished in Melbourne.
Recognised as one of the world's most scenic drives, the route from Adelaide
to Melbourne stretches for over 300 kilometres and for most of the distance
it is possible to follow the coastline. Starting in Adelaide, we had to meander
through the lakes at the end of the Murray river before we reached the coast.
This gave us an opportunity to see the Giant Lobster and visit the tractor
museum in Kingston, South Australia. We followed the coast to Robe before
moving inland to the Coonawarra vineyards and Penola.
