The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the opening of the San Francisco Bay into the Pacific Ocean. It links the city of San Francisco, on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula, to Marin County. It was opened in May 1937. The colour of the bridge is international orange. The colour was selected because it complements the natural surroundings and enhances the bridge's visibility in fog.
