There are several ways to get from Hong Kong island to Kowloon side today. The most common route is using the MTR, but the Star ferry is still running or you could hire a local fisherwoman to take you across the bay.
The Mid-Level escalators are a relatively painless way to go up from Central to the Botanical gardens on a Sunday but can be very busy during the week.
Some traditions continue. The Noon Day Gun is still fired every day across Causeway Bay to salute the boats entering the harbour.
Fishermen still live in shanty villages on the shore.
