Shropshire is a county in the West Midlands and borders Wales. It is both an industrial
county and rural county with the Ironbridge Gorge (including Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge
and the Blist Hill Victorian Town at
Madeley), the Severn Valley Railway, the Shropshire Union canal and beautiful countryside.
The County town is Shrewsbury.
The area has been populated since the Iron Age and has roman remains as well as Norman
Castles and Medieval towns. Acton Burnell Castle is a nice example of the remains of a fortified
manor house built in the 13th century.
