Lavenham is a village in Suffolk noted for its 15th century church and numerous
half-timbered medieval cottages. In the medieval period it was one of the
wealthiest settlements in England.
The Church of St Peter and St Paul dominates
Lavenham and was completed in about 1530 just before the Reformation. It is
evidence of the vast wealth that was concentrated in this area
of East Anglia during the late medieval and Tudor periods because of the wool trade.
