A futuristic eight-storey building that belies the history captured within, the Edo-Tokyo Museum integrates life-size reconstructions of historical buildings, scale models, photographs, audio-visual and high-definition TV presentations, along with an impressive collection of actual artefacts, to trace all aspects of everyday life in Edo, renamed Tokyo (`eastern capital') with the Meiji Restoration in 1868.
